From burnout to breakthrough - how she built a business from rock bottom.
Even rock bottom can be the perfect launchpad. Choose reinvention.
In 2015, I was sitting in a Connecticut office at my 9-to-5 job, wondering how I had ended up there. I had done everything “right”: engineering degree, stable job, and decent paycheck, but I felt like I was slowly dying inside. The entrepreneurial fire I’d carried since I was a kid was flickering, buried beneath layers of routine, expectations, and fluorescent lighting.
I wasn’t meant for this. I knew it.
As a kid, I ran a baseball website where I’d write physical letters to players and collect autographs in the mail. Later, I even sold an eBook teaching other hobbyists how to do the same. I was scrappy, creative, and obsessed with building something of my own. But somewhere along the way, I got funneled into the life-script most people follow.
Eventually, I couldn’t ignore the voice anymore: “This isn’t your path.” So, I started exploring the online world, testing different business models while still working my 9-to-5 job. Piece by piece, I built something that could replace my full-time income. In September 2015, I quit and went all-in on entrepreneurship.
And that’s when things got interesting.
The Real Game-Changer: Webinars Set Me Free
I owe a lot of my early success to webinars. Once I cracked how to use them to sell my offers, I went from hustling for every sale to watching revenue come in even while I slept.
But here’s the problem: the tools I was using sucked.
Seriously… some of the “automated webinar” platforms didn’t even autoplay videos. The tech felt outdated, the interfaces were clunky, and support was a coin toss. I started thinking, Why hasn’t someone built a better tool?
Enter Phil… my high school friend and now cofounder. One day, he said, “Why don’t we build the tool we wish existed?” That conversation became WebinarKit.
We launched in early 2020 with a lifetime deal, no outside funding, and a mission to make webinars easy and effective for everyone… especially solopreneurs, coaches, consultants, and marketers like me. Since then, over 20,000 businesses have used our platform.

What Didn’t Work (and What I Learned the Hard Way)
For years, I focused mostly on launch-style marketing… big promotions, affiliate pushes, heavy urgency. It got us customers, but also burned us out. We didn’t have recurring revenue, which meant we had to keep relaunching just to stay afloat.
Then came the “branding blind spot.” We were so focused on direct response that we neglected the long-term value of brand-building. That changed when people started saying “I use WebinarKit” in Facebook groups or mentioning us on comparison sites. That simple recognition shifted our authority… and our sales followed suit.
The Turning Point
The biggest breakthrough? Embracing the fact that we weren’t just running a launch… we were building a brand.
We transitioned from lifetime deals to monthly and annual pricing. We revamped our messaging to speak to both beginners and advanced marketers. We stopped trying to be loud and started trying to be trusted.
That’s when things got better.
5 Real Lessons from Scaling our Webinar SaaS to $100K+/Month
-
Direct response is powerful, but branding multiplies it: We built momentum through direct response, but authority through branding. People now seek us out, not just click from an ad. That’s a game-changer.
Offer tiers like an airline: Think economy (low-ticket), business class (recurring mid-tier), and first class (premium). We’ve nailed the first two, and 2025 is all about scaling high-ticket offerings.
Don’t just compete on price, educate: Low pricing helped us stand out early, but it only works for solution-aware audiences, which, depending on your niche, could be limited. To grow, we had to teach the why behind automated webinars. Storytelling and education open up bigger markets to problem-aware audiences. This is the true scale, once cracked.
Simple wins: Don’t overcomplicate your product or your message. Build tools and offers for the masses, then layer in premium. In the end, Toyota makes a lot more than Ferrari.
Recurring revenue = true freedom: Launches and lifetime deals got us started. Subscriptions helped us scale. If you want consistency, build something people pay for monthly… and love so much they stick around.

And while the revenue is great, what matters more is knowing we created something real…something that actually helps people grow their businesses without burning out.
If you’re in the building phase right now, keep going. Keep testing. Keep improving. Your authority is built in the trenches, not overnight.
Cheers to building something that lasts.
