The Four-Sentence Cold Email That Exploded Our Sales
Oct 25, 2025
A simple email turned skepticism into six figures.
If you can write 4 sentences, you can change your business.
In 2017, I had less than $300 in my business bank account and was about to give – until I discovered one marketing strategy that changed everything for me.
This was 6 months into starting my first company, a digital marketing agency – and I was weeks away from having to move back home with my parents and beg for my old job back.
Before this, I had a great career in sales and marketing in the construction industry. I’d done well, so I thought starting a business would be easy, and man, was I wrong!
At my lowest point, I was living out of a Sprinter Van – and sneaking into the Marriott for free breakfast. I remember a Valentine’s Day, and I couldn’t even afford to take my girlfriend to Waffle House. I felt completely emasculated and embarrassed. She ended up leaving me a few months later (Can’t say I blame her!)
So there I was – alone, a failed agency, broke, and homeless. I felt like a complete failure. Until a glimmer of hope appeared…
I landed my first client on a $1,250 per month retainer (Waffle House, here I come!). Then another for $2,000 a month. Only two days after that, another client for $3,000 a month.
Within a few weeks, everything changed. Soon, I was pulling in $10–15k per month and finally moved into a real apartment. I’d built a solid client base in a matter of weeks. From there, I was able to reinvest in the company, start hiring some help, and scale up from there to build a seven-figure business years later.
What made the difference?
I started sending targeted cold email pitches to potential clients. Not spray-and-pray generic messages, but carefully crafted outreach to businesses that actually needed what I was offering.
And it worked.
This blew my mind at the time because of how simple it was. Honestly, I discovered it by accident because I had no other options. I couldn’t wait months to build a social audience and I couldn’t run Facebook or Google ads because I was broke.
So I decided to send cold emails and LinkedIn messages to 100 CEO’s a day. That experience led me down the cold email rabbit hole, and it became the foundation for everything.
By now, I’ve built three successful companies, & each one uses the same method – targeted outbound prospecting. No matter what industry you’re in, you can do it too.
Most entrepreneurs tell me marketing feels complicated and overwhelming.
If that’s you, you’ll love cold outreach because of how simple it is.
You could do it with just your Gmail account or your LinkedIn profile. Or, splurge a bit and buy some software that can automate it for you – and even then, you can be up and running in an afternoon.

As old-school as this sounds, it’s become the new gold rush lately.
Over the last two years, demand has exploded and more people have hired us to help them with cold outreach campaigns than ever before.
Why? The marketing landscape has changed drastically. What worked five years ago doesn’t work as well anymore.
Paid ad costs are through the roof. Organic reach on social media keeps shrinking due to increased competition and algorithms showing your content to fewer people. Add AI flooding the internet with content, and you’re fighting for scraps of attention.
So - how do you do cold email well? After sending more than 5 million outreach emails for my clients and my own business, here’s what I’ve learned:
1. Use this four-sentence email template
Out of all of our campaigns over the years, nothing has beaten this simple four-sentence email framework:
-
Line 1 – why you’re reaching out to them/how you found them
Line 2 – value proposition, AKA how can you help them
Line 3 – social proof
Line 4 – low-pressure call to action like “Would you like to explore this further?”
You could have the perfect email, but if you’re sending it to the wrong people, you’re wasting your time.
Look at your best past clients. What kind of companies were they? How big? What industry? Who actually signed the contract? Don’t guess at this. The data will tell you exactly who to target.
Then you can go into LinkedIn or an email tool like Instantly, and immediately create a list of 1000s of people that fit that exact profile.

3. The Offer Is Half the Battle – Make It Compelling
Stop saying you do “marketing services” or “web design.”
Start saying you help specific people solve specific problems.
Instead of “I do Facebook ads,” try “I help gyms get 10 new members every month.”
The difference? One talks about what you do. The other talks about what they get.
Your offer should solve a real problem that’s keeping them up at night, not something they’d be “nice to have.”
4. Short, Direct Copy Works the Best
Over 80% of emails are read on a mobile device. Plus, most people read emails when they’re in a hurry, in between meetings, or in transit.
Don’t explain your company’s background story. Just tell them how you can help.
We’ve found our best emails talk about the results we’ve gotten for other clients.
“Helped ABC Company add $500k in revenue” works way better than “My company is the best at ….”
5. Send Enough Volume
Sales is a numbers game. Even a 1% positive response rate is considered good.
So if you want five new leads per day, you need to email about 500 people daily.
Most people send 20 emails and wonder why nothing happens. Think bigger!
Get all five of these right, and it’d be impossible not to get leads.
Go try it out!
This is worth mastering because in our ever-changing world of digital marketing, I can guarantee one thing won’t change:
People will always use and read their emails.
Don’t wait for customers to find you. Go find them.
Your best clients and partners may be just one email away.
